Lithuanian film „Motherland“ among EFA Feature Film Selection

Among the first part of European Film Academy Selection 2020 – Lithuanian film MOTHERLAND directed by Tomas Vengris.

The European Film Academy and EFA Productions announced the titles of the 32 films in the first part, the second part will be announced in September. Together, the films from part 1 and 2 form the EFA Feature Film Selection, the list of feature-length fiction films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2020.

In the coming weeks, the over 3,800 members of the European Film Academy will screen the selected films and vote for the nominations in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter and other. The nominations will then be announced on 7 November at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain.

Lithuanian filmmaker Tomas Vengris’ first feature is the story of a mother bringing her US-born son to her homeland for the first time in 1992. Film has won Best Baltic Feature at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

MOTHERLAND is a co-production by Lithuania’s Studio Uljana Kim, Latvia’s Locomotive Productions, Germany’s Heimat Hafen Films and Greece’s Faliro House. Paris-based Alpha Violet has the international rights.

The 33rd European Film Awards with the presentation of the winners will take place on 12 December in Reykjavik.
