Baltic film days to commemorate the Baltic way

2019-08-21

The Baltic way anniversary will be traditionally celebrated by Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian film institutions. The Baltic film days will be taking place on the 21-23 of August in Tallinn, Vilnius, Kaunas and Riga. All the film screenings of the Baltic film days in all of the Baltic states will be open and free of charge.

Latvians and Estonians will have an opportunity to see three Lithuanian films: Summer survivors (lit. Išgyventi vasarą, 2019) by Marija Kavtaradzė, Bridges of time (lit. Laiko tiltai, 2018) by Audrius Stonys and Kristīne Briede and Wonderful losers: a different world (lit. Nuostabieji lūzeriai: kita planeta, 2017) by Arūnas Matelis. Seven Latvian and Estonian films will be screened in Lithuania.

The Baltic film days in Vilnius will be opened by Estonian documentary Rodeo (dir. Raimo Jõerand, Kiur Aarma, 2018), which tells a story about the first days of the independence. One of the programme’s highlights will be a Latvian Oscars nominee, documentary To Be Continued (dir. Ivars Seleckis). The program also includes Latvian-Lithuanian and Czech co-production Bille (dir. Ināra Kolmane), animation Lotte and the Lost Dragons (dir. Janno Põldma, Heiki Ernits), which debuted in the Berlin film festival, Pizzas by a famous Latvian director Laila Pakalniņa and Estonian film Roots (dir. Nora Särak, Aljona Suržikova, Kersti Uibo, Moonika Siimets, Anna Hints, Heilika Pikkov). The program will be closed by Estonian The Little Comrade (dir. Moonika Siimets, 2018).
