About the film
A psychological drama telling the story of Jakimkus, who returns from his imprisonment to his home farm, and his son Vilius, who has just lost his mother. Vilius has been deferred from the mandatory military service so he could nurse his mother. So now he is digging drainage ditches and manages to talk his boss into employing his father as well. The two of them go to dig a ditch in a remote homestead, whose inhabitants are a youngish widow Milda and her little daughter. The men stay at Milda’s house and play with her little Laima, which somehow rekindles the warmth in their hearts. The film is a realistic drama about a father and a son entangled in a love triangle, with the historic reality of Lithuania subtly incorporated in the story.
