Laimonas Ubavičius has been appointed as director of the Lithuanian Film Centre. He was selected from the two candidates who received the highest scores in a competition organized by the Civil Service Department under the Ministry of the interior of the Republic of Lithuania.
Since 2015, L. Ubavičius is the Chancellor of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
He was previously Attaché for Cultural Policy, Audiovisual Issues and Copyright at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU, Brussels. As well as the Chairman of the Audiovisual Affairs Working Party of the Council of the European Union.
L. Ubavičius will take office in November. The director of the Lithuanian Film Centre is appointed for a term of office of five years.
