The Locarno Film Festival is moving into the vintage cinema space. The Swiss fest’s “Locarno Pro” industry component is launching “Heritage Online”, a first-of-its-kind platform that will serve as a database of film titles that premiered prior to 2005.

Special appreciation for Lithuanian cinema – five works of Lithuanian cinema classics are presented on the newly launched platform: “March, March! Tra-ta-ta” (dir. Raimondas Vabalas, 1964), “The Girl and The Echo” (dir. Arūnas Žebriūnas, 1964), “The Beauty” (dir. Arūnas Žebriūnas, 1969), “Woman and Her Four Men” (dir. Algimantas Puipa, 1983) and “I No Longer Remember Your Face” (dir. Raimundas Banionis, 1988).

The idea of platform is to become a business facilitator between rights holders and streaming platforms. The platform will be open to private and public archives and institutions, besides sales companies and producers and will feature a virtual screening room.

The Lithuanian Film Centre has already digitized and restored 19 feature films and 3 documentaries.
