Lithuanian film heritage returned to the state

The Lithuanian Film Centre (LFC) signed the agreement with the Lithuanian Film Studios (Lietuvos kino studija) to take over the copyrights and related rights to the national films and audiovisual works created in Lithuania from 1940 to 2004.

The state obtained the copyrights and related rights to 81 animation films, 849 documentaries, 80 features, and 185 commissioned films and news reels Soviet Lithuania (Tarybų Lietuva) and Lithuanian Chronicle (Lietuvos kronika). It also took over the 1409 data storage devices containing the audiovisual works that are currently stored in the Lithuanian National Radio and Television Archives.

The list of the works is available on the LFC website. From now on, all applications to screen or otherwise use these works should be directed to the LFC.
