The Board of Management of the Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund agreed to support 21 feature films for a total amount of 6 710 000 euros. Lithuanian – French co-production ‘Sangaile‘ with 110 000 euros is one of the funded projects.
The film will be directed by Alantė Kavaitė and is a co-production between ‘Fralita Films’ (Lithuania) and ‘Les Films d‘Antoine‘ (France). Earlier this year the project has also secured funding from Lithuanian Film Centre.
‘Sangaile’ is a story of a young girl whose biggest dream is to become an aerial acrobatics pilot. But she can‘t achieve it unless she overcomes her fear of heights and lack of confidence. For Sangaile, that seems to be impossible – until one day she meets charismatic and enthralling Austė, the antipode of herself.
Eurimages is a support fund for cinema co-production, theatrical distribution, exhibition and digital equipment for cinema theatres established by the Council of Europe in 1988 (Since it was set up in 1988, EURIMAGES has supported 1522 European co-productions for a total amount of approximately 462 million euros).
