Lithuanian films at ”Le Marché du Film”

The Lithuanian Films pavilion welcomes film professionals from around the world at the Cannes Film Market ”Le Marché du Film”. Here one can receive information about the latest Lithuanian films, shooting locations and production opportunities in Lithuania.

Asta Valčiukaitė, the producer of Lithuanian-Finnish feature ”Santa” by Marius Ivaškevičius (starring Tommi Korpela) that will be screened at ”Le Marché du Film” says: ”This market screening is important to us as we are looking for international distributors and sales agents. We also hope that festival programmers will find our film interesting”.

A touching drama with elements of comedy and romance ”Santa” takes place in Lithuania and Finland. During Christmas Holidays protagonist Inga with her seven-year-old son Vincas comes to Rovaniemi – a city in northern Finland – to visit Santa Claus.

In the Doc and Short Film Corners Andrius Lekavičius’ film ”Game of the Nation”, Jokūbas Vilius Tūras film ”Dreaming the Path” and 88 minute short film program presented by the Lithuanian Shorts Agency can be seen.

”Dreaming the Path” has already received recognition from Lithuanian audiences and professionals and is currently traveling through foreign festivals. ”Le Marché du Film” is another important step forward”, – says producer Rasa Miškinytė. Andrius Lekavičius, director and producer of ”Game of the Nation”, seconds her and hopes that after success in Lithuania the film will find its audience abroad, too.

The short films program includes the best Lithuanian shorts from 2012-2013.  ”We seek to promote Lithuanian filmmakers and their films to the organizers of international film festivals, television programmers, online video platforms’ developers, other representatives of international short films”, – says Rimantė Daugėlaitė, the Head of the Lithuanian Shorts Agency.

”Lithuanian Films” pavilion is located at Village International, Pantiero (Pavilion No. 221).

  • ”Game of the nation”: at the Doc Corner at Palais des Festival, level 1, aisles 19-21, from May 15th to 24th.
